What’s The Reason To Control A Priest Whilst Playing World Of Warcraft?
The most common mistaken thought that online gamers usually have is that in the World of Warcraft, the immensely popular MMORPG from Blizzard-Activision, the priest class is the healing class.
Such, definitely, is merely partly true.
Priests can heal, indeed. But believe it or not, they are called to do damage.
Nihilum, WoW’s top guild which proudly operate in the European servers, once released the famous statement: “in Nihilum, our pallies heal, our shammies are healers and our priests do DPS.” If a widely admired guild like Nihilum requires their priests to do some damage, then by Arthas’ frozen nostrils you can bet that the whole WoW community will follow their lead.
Priests have the choice to be a healer or to be a damage dealer. But priests can no longer be considered as the primary healers in the game since the coming of the Burning Crusade expansion. Tree form druids have better HOTs (heals over time) compared to priests. Holy paladins are better single target healers compared to priests. And shamans are better multi-target healers than priests.
When it comes to healing, priests are actually students of many crafts but a mentor of none. They have fast heals, serviceable heals over time, and multi-target heals, but they’re simply not as effective with these as the other classes.
So, if priests are no longer the star healbots in the World of Warcraft, what should priests be doing come end game in 25 man raids? 2 functions actually.
Number one, as we have mentioned before, priests are required to deal some heavy DPS. The shadow talent tree is recommended for this, what with the plethora direct damage spells from the dark arts.
Number two, priests serve one essential role: mana batteries. Priests have powers that increase the mana regen of spell casters in the same party. This is the reason why priests are grouped with spell casters – usually healers – in 25 man raids.
Priests are excellent in soloing to the level cap. Before level 40, priests rely on wands as their major damage dealing weapon. But by level 40, most priests focus on shadow just to acquire shadow form, the essential deal maker for this character type. Shadow form provides tincredible increase in the shadow damage dealt by priests.
Shadow priests are excellent killers. It will take a shadow priest approximately one-fourth of the time it will take a warrior to eliminate a given mob.
Whether as healbots or as damage dummies, priests are a great class that will vindicate your decision to roll one.
