Warhammer Master
Stripping plastic warhammer figures?
Hello, I’m new to warhammer and painting the plastic figures. I started off with Necrons and I wanted to give them a nice shiny metallic look so I used krylon spray paint but somehow they ended up bubbly like a few months later so now I want to strip them and start all over again. I tried Simple Green and it only worked on my metal models. I also decided to buy some reaper master series paints(they were cheaper than GW paints) to paint my necrons. What else can I use to strip my plastic warhammer models, would the stripper work for any paint? I live in L.A so hopefully its something I can buy locally. Thanks for the help.
Something I forgot to mentin, I tried L,A’s totally awesome but it didn’t work so well either.
Plastic figures are so much harder to work with, IMO, I prefer the pewter ones. Well, rule #1, plastic doesn’t like spray paint. I don’t know the science of it, but they don’t get along. I would be careful using a stripper on plastic either, it could melt your model. I would probably try to just scrape off as much paint as possible, use a big needle to get into the tight spots. If it’s bubbling, its not stuck well anyway, so this might work. Start out with a primer when you start them again. Primer seems like an extra step, but it’s imperative. That should seal your model and give the paint something to stick to. The pewter figures cost a little more, but they accept and hold more different kinds of paint, once they’ve been primered. The paint they make for these models is the type of paint you need, its hard to substitute unless you know it’s the same kind.
