What Warhammer Army should i collect?

Me and a couple of friends are starting warhammer fantasy and i dont know what army to get i am 13 and have a strict budget. I am considering buying the empire battalion and army book. PS my friends are getting – High Elves,Wood Elves and Lizard men and i hate have 2 of the same armies.

Empire is sweet, they can be tailored to fit any needs. If it’s too tough a choice, go with the army whose models look the best to you! It will be more fun playing with an army whose background, look, and feel you enjoy.

That said, another point too look at would be the strategy of the armies. I don’t pretend to be an expert, however here’s my take on things:

Like I said, Empire can adopt different strategies, depending on your playstyle. It’s a versatile list, however may not be as good as some specialized armies.
Dwarfs are the masters of the gun line, with deadly warmachines and solid units; they need have these, because they have a low movement and will most likely always be charged.
Vampire Counts depend on large numbers of expendable ‘tarpit’ units to bog down your enemies, with their heroes and lords raising new zombies to bolster these units. The downside to this army? If your Vampires die, you’re done for.
Brettonian armies will consist of mostly cavalry forces, intent on taking the fight to the enemy. Your core units will be knights of the realm, along with some peasants to hold down objectives. Don’t count on the peasants to be useful in a fight, though. Maneuvering your knights is a key part of this army, as they are particularly destructive on the charge but due to the lance formation they adopt, vulnerable to being flanked.
Dark Elves are a vicious lot, with repeater crossbows fully capable of shredding charging ogres. The sorceresses are powerful casters, able to use any amount of power dice no matter their level. You also have hard hitting units in the form of executioners and knights. However, this army must be deployed and used correctly to shine. (We had at least four dark elf players at a good vs. evil warbands game last night >_<)
Daemons are overpowered, cheesy, beardy, covered with beardy cheese and all growing cheesy beards. Your friends would hate you.
Warriors of Chaos consist of a core of elite infantry, supported by elite cavalry, some expendable units, and some nasty beasties. The goal of this army is an unstoppable advance across the battlefield, taking the fight to the enemy. However, all this eliteness comes at a high points cost, and you will likely be outnumbered with no ranged attacks to speak of. WoC get access to three solid spellbooks, sorcerers are a must for this army.
Skaven are the ultimate horde army. With heaps upon heaps of cheap, expendable units, you won't care about losing entire regiments if it furthers your goals. You also have the ability to bring some nasty warmachines to the field, that can annihilate opponents from range. However, be cautious of fear/terror as the low leadership armywide makes you particularly susceptible.
Orcs and goblins are a characterful army, with large regiments and some very tough elites and characters. Goblins get access to, in my opinion, the best spellbook, but this comes with its own, unforgiving miscast table. Another point to watch out for is the inherent randomness of the army, with a very real possibility of whole regiments being rendered useless by animosity.
Ogres are another interesting army. You will always be outnumbered, but with troops packing multiple wounds each, they're tough as nails. The main thing to watch out for is how you deploy and maneuver: with so few units you will be hard pressed to control objectives, etc.
I don't mention Tomb Kings or Beasts of Chaos because I have no experience whatsoever, but from reading the army books, Tomb Kings look extremely complex to play. It could be a very rewarding army, if mastered, but confusing nonetheless.

Sorry for the wall of text.
