Warhammer 40k Rules inquiry?
My Imperial guard army was matched up against a space marine one and his dreadnought deep strike’d next to my heavy weapons squad
My first set of shots all did nothing and he charged me
My guardsmen wouldn’t do any damage in close combat so all they could do was hold it up for two or three turns
The rules say that a unit cannot be locked in combat with a vehicle but i cant find anywhere is says whether the same goes for walkers?
First things first: you can’t assault in the same turn you deepstrike unless you’re Vanguard Veterans deepstriking with jump-packs (not drop pods), although the marines (and the drop pod) can still shoot.
I don’t have my Space Marine codex immediately to hand, so I could be wrong, but I’m almost certain that Land Raiders are the *only* vehicle that lets space marines disembark and assault in the same turn.
Secondly, page 73 of the BGB (“Walkers and Assault”) states clearly “Walkers… can be locked in combat with enemy units”.
