Warhammer Dark Elves
Warhammer painting: why is the paint “gluggy” and comes off easy?
I have just started painting warhammer fantasy “dark elves”, i use a chaos black primer. I proceed to paint places that need to be lighter with a lighter pigment such as the skin i’ll paint with codex grey and paint over that with elf flesh. By this point the paint tends to be very obscure and gluggy, at which point i can scrape the paint off with my finger nail?
Did i miss a step? I don’t stack the paint on and the base coats are washed.. so why is it gluggy and peeling off?

1. Adjective form of glug. Used to describe a substance (normally liquid, specifically viscuous) which moves slowly or with some resistance. Can also be used to describe someone who is lazy or sluggish (displaying the same characteristics.)
The jelly was not yet set, but quite gluggy .
The rice was gluggy (ie it stuck together, or was pasty.)
The morning after the party I felt gluggy .
Did you clean the miniature prior to painting? Both plastics and metals should me given a rinse in soapy water to get rid of chemical residues.
Were there any bare spots after you sprayed on the primer? Primer should be applied lightly – just a misting really – but it must cover the whole mini.
Ae you touching the mini with greasy fingers? Some people attach the mini to a cork or empty paint-pot to avoid touching; that can definitely cause paint to peel especially when it’s being applied in thin layers. You might want to make up some kind of little clamp or jig you can comfortably hold in your hand – it should have a round handle to make it easy to turn.
