Warhammer Carnifex

warhammer 40k question?
i was wondering if there is a possible way of involving a tyranid carnifex into my chaos space marine army that is legal to game with ???
In normal games, no. The conventional rules don’t allow allies except under codex-specific conditions (see the Codex: Witch Hunters and Codex: Daemon Hunters for more).
Apocalypse battles, of course, allow literally anything, but setting one up is an apocalyptic effort in and of itself: it’s something we do about once a year in my wargaming club, and we’re quite dedicated!
However, if it’s the *model* rather than the rules that you’re interested in (and who wouldn’t be – I’ve be dying to splurge on a Carnifex since the plastic kit was released!), then you’ve got two possible routes. The first possibility is to field the Carni as a Daemon Prince with the appropriate upgrades (daemonic stature would be a good start).
To be fair, this isn’t the best solution. The Carnifex is *enormous* – far bigger than even the normal daemon prince models.
The option, therefore, is to field it as a “counts as” Defiler. The one caveat I’d put on this idea, though, is that you really should do more than simply build that Carni and say “behold my new Defiler!”. The Defiler has a battlecannon and reaper autocannons, as well as smoke launchers and other upgrades. A Carnifex model being fielded as a Defiler should be a blasphemous blend of organic and inorganic. If you’ve already got a couple of Rhinos and a Land Raider (and if not, why not?) you should have lots of spare vehicle parts, chains, armour plates and suchlike. Put these to good use and check out other Defiler conversions and special models on good modelling forums, like http://www.warseer.com or http://www.dakkadakka.com.
Your opponent should see the Carni and think “Whoa! Cool Defiler!” rather than “Why the **** does he have a Carnifex in his army?”
