Test Driving Affiliate Programs With Free Trials

With the ever increasing competition in the internet marketing arena, more and more affiliate programs are turning to gimmicks and incentives to wrestle affiliates or reps away from their competitors.  Many are using free trials as a tool to attract affiliates.  Basically, they are allowing interested parties the chance to “test drive” their affiliate offer for free for a designated period of time.

Even with these “no risk” offers, most potential affiliates are still wary when it comes to joining such opportunities.  In a lot of cases, their apprehension is justified.  The Internet is littered with tales of people joining an affiliate program on a trial basis and, then cancelling before the trial period ends- only to have their cancellation process linger in seemingly endless red tape.

Their credit card maybe charged for several months before a cancellation is ever processed.  And once the cancellation is actually processed, they may still find themselves fighting to get any unwarranted charges removed.  With nightmarish scenarios like this being so common, is it any wonder that most are still hesitant to try a so-called “risk free” affiliate opportunity.

You’ve probably assumed from the first three paragraphs that I am dead set against free trial offers in respects to an affiliate program.  Well, you’d be 100% wrong in that assumption.  I actually am a huge supporter of giving free trials a try when offered by legitimate affiliate or internet marketing companies.  In the above paragraphs, I just wanted to illustrate some of the real risks of “risk free” offers especially from those unscrupulous opportunists only interested in making a fast buck.

Free trials offered by affiliate programs are a great way to test drive an affiliate marketing opportunity while greatly minimizing any associated financial risk.  What more can an online marketing skeptic ask for?  You get to test your online marketing skills without spending a dime on any upfront fees and monthly charges.  If at the end of the trial period, you decide affiliate marketing (or this particular affiliate program) isn’t for you, you simply cancel and move on without the feeling of being duped into paying for an affiliate program that wasn’t right for you.

As with anything on the Internet, thorough research should be done when considering any free trial offer from an affiliate or online marketing opportunity.  There are certain questions that must be answered before test driving any affiliate or online business.

Of course, the first question should be– how long is the trial period?  This is especially critical since most online or affiliate programs (for obvious reasons) don’t provide you any warning as the deadline approaches.  It is up to you as a potential affiliate to know exactly how long a trial offer lasts and when it ends.  Trust me, you will be charged as soon as the trial period expires!

The second question you want to ask is—are there any other requirements attached to the offer?  Sometimes online marketing trial offers come with cleverly hidden requirements that catch potential affiliates or reps off guard.  For example, I’ve come across free trial offers that are contingent upon the potential affiliate or rep actually recruiting a certain number of sub-affiliates.  If that number of recruits isn’t met, guess what?  You’re charged whatever the fee for joining and/or maintaining a membership may be.

After the above questions have been answered, you then want to do your due diligence on the company offering the trial.  Find out how long the company has been around, what their reputation is, and has their free trial offer campaign been littered with cancellation problems?  All of this should be easily accessible on the Internet.

I, personally,  have tried numerous affiliate trial offers.  I liked what I saw with a couple of the programs during the trial period and therefore allowed the trial to expire without cancelling.  I’m still a happy affiliate of both companies to this day.  Of course with a couple of the other trial offers, I actually did cancel and I’m happy to report no issues with the cancellation process.  My credit card was never charged and I would honestly recommend using those trial offers to anyone considering an affiliate marketing opportunity.

Excerpt: The Alcobaça Monastery (Portuguese: ) is a mediaeval monastery located in the town of Alcobaça, in central Portugal. It was founded by the first Portuguese King, Afonso Henriques, in 1153, and maintained a close association with the Kings of Portugal throughout its history. The church and monastery were the first Gothic buildings in Portugal, and, together with the Monastery of Santa Cruz in Coimbra, it was one of the most important of the mediaeval monasteries in Portugal. Due to its artistic and historical importance, it was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1989. View of the nave of the church towards the main chapel and ambulatory. Tomb of King Pedro I. Renaissance water basin within the Gothic fountain house in the cloister of the Monastery of Alcobaça.The Alcobaça Monastery is one of the first foundations of the Order of Cistercians in Portugal. It was founded in 1153 as a gift to Bernard of Clairvaux, shortly before his death, from the first Portuguese King, Afonso Henriques, to commemorate his victory over the Moors at Santarém in March 1147. The foundation of the monastery was part of the strategy by Afonso Henriques to consolidate his authority in the new kingdom and promote the colonisation of areas recently taken from Moorish hands during the Reconquista. The building of the monastery began in 1178, some 25 years after the arrival of the Cistercian monks in the Alcobaça region. Initially, the

Excerpt: Bombing of Rabaul (November 1943) – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia In early 1943 Rabaul had been distant from the fighting. However, the Allied grand strategy in the South West Pacific Area, Operation Cartwheel, aimed to isolate Rabaul and reduce it by air raids. Japanese ground forces were already retreating in New Guinea and in the Solomon Islands, abandoning Guadalcanal, Kolombangara, New Georgia and Vella Lavella. Rabaul, on the island of New Britain, was one of two major ports in the Australian Territory of New Guinea. It was the main Japanese naval base for the Solomon Islands campaign and New Guinea campaign. Simpson Harbour captured from Australian forces in February 1942 was known as “the Pearl Harbor of the South Pacific” and was well defended by 367 anti-aircraft guns and five airfields. Lakunai and Vunakanau airfields were prewar Australian strips. Lakunai had an all-weather runway of sand and volcanic ash, and Vunakanau was surfaced with concrete. Rapopo, 14 miles to the southeast, became operational in December 1942 with concrete runways and extensive support and maintenance facilities. Tobera, completed in August 1943 halfway between Vunakanau and Rapopo, also had concrete strips. The four dromes had 166 protected revetments for bombers and 265 for fighters, with additional unprotected dispersal parking areas. The fifth airfield protecting Rabaul was Borpop airfield, completed in December 1942 across the St. Georges Channel on New Ireland.. The anti-aircraft defenses were well coordinated by army and naval units. The army operated 192 of the 367 antiaircraft guns and the navy 175. The naval guns guarded Simpson Harbor and its shipping and the three airfields of Tobera, Lakunai, and Vunakanau. The army units … More:

Excerpt: The Battle off Samar was the centre most action of the Battle of Leyte Gulf, one of the largest naval battles in history, which took place in the Philippine Sea off Samar Island, in the Philippines on October 25, 1944. As the only major action in the larger battle where the Americans were largely unprepared against the opposing forces, it has been cited by historians as one of the greatest military mismatches in naval history. Adm. William Halsey, Jr. was lured into taking his powerful 3rd Fleet after a decoy fleet. Thus only three escort carrier groups of the 7th Fleet remained in the area. A powerful Japanese surface force of battleships and cruisers that were thought to have been defeated and in retreat instead turned around unobserved and stumbled upon the northernmost of the three groups, Task Unit 77.4.3 (“Taffy 3″). Taffy 3′s destroyers and destroyer escorts desperately attacked with 5 in (127 mm) guns and torpedoes, while carrier aircraft dropped bombs and depth charges. While US vessels leading the counter-attack suffered heavy personnel losses, they sank or disabled three Japanese cruisers and caused enough confusion to convince the Japanese commander, Vice Adm. Takeo Kurita, to regroup and ultimately withdraw, rather than advancing to sink troop and supply ships at Leyte Gulf. The overall Japanese strategy at Leyte Gulf, a plan known as Sh-Go 1, called for Vice-Admiral Jisabur Ozawa’s fleet, known as Northern Force, to lure the American 3rd Fleet away from the Allied landings on Leyte, using an apparently vulnerable force of carriers. The landing forces, stripped of air cover, would then be attacked from the west and south by Vice Admiral Takeo Kurita’s Center Force, which would sortie from Brunei, and Vice Admiral Shoji Nishimura’… More:

Excerpt: The 1968 Hardie-Ferodo 500 was the ninth running of the Bathurst 500 production car race. It was held on October 6, 1968 at the Mount Panorama Circuit just outside Bathurst. Cars competed in five classes based on purchase price (Australian dollars) of the vehicle. For the first time factory supported teams of Ford and Holden V8s raced against each other, setting a pattern that continues to this day in Australian touring car racing, currently known as V8 Supercar. It was not one of the factory cars that won however. The Wyong Motors entry of a Holden Monaro driven by Bruce McPhee (apart from one lap mid-race driven by Barry Mulholland) who upset the big teams with a tactical tyre strategy of running a buffed hard wearing street tyre rather than a racing tyre. Initially Des West and Ron Marks were classified second but were later disqualified for illegal engine modifications. Second became the factory supported Holden Dealer Racing Team Monaro of Jim Palmer (to that point the best finish by a New Zealander) and Phil West. Another dealer entered Monaro driven by Tony Roberts and Bob Watson finished third. The smallest class was for cars which cost less than $1,850. Excerpt: The Toyota War is the name commonly given to the last phase of the Chadian-Libyan conflict , which took place in 1987 in Northern Chad and on the Libyan-Chadian border. It takes its name from the Toyota pickup trucks used as technicals to provide mobility for the Chadian troops as they fought against the Libyans . The 1987 war resulted in a heavy defeat for Libya , which, according to American sources, lost one tenth of its army, with 7,500 troops killed and 1.5 billion dollars worth of military equipment destroyed or captured. Chadian losses were 1,000 troops killed. The war began with the Libyan occupation of northern Chad in 1983, when Libya’s leader Muammar al-Gaddafi , refusing to recognize the legitimacy of the Chadian President Hissène Habré , militarily supported the attempt by the opposition Transitional Government of National Unity (GUNT) to overthrow Habré. The plan was foiled by the intervention of France that, first with Operation Manta and later with Operation Epervier , limited Libyan expansion to north of the 16th parallel, in the most desertic and sparsely inhabited part of Chad. In 1986 the GUNT rebelled against Gaddafi, stripping Libya of its main cover of legitimacy for its military presence in Chad. Seeing an occasion to unify Chad behind him, Habré ordered his forces to pass the 16th parallel so as to link with the GUNT rebels (who were fighting the Libyans in Tibesti ) in December. A few weeks later a bigger force struck at Fada , destroying the local Libyan garrison. In three months, combining the methods of guerilla and conventional warfare in a common strategy, Habré was able to retake almost all northern Chad, and in the following months,
