Everything You Need To Know About LEGO 8018 Star Wars Armored Assault Tank (AAT) With Yoda
The LEGO Star Wars Armored Assault Tank (AAT) with Yoda (8018) is here, and it is everything you’ve come to expect from the LEGO Star Wars universe. Recommended for ages 8 – 14, it is also a great item for Star Wars enthusiasts of any age. It contains 407 pieces, and comes with 7 mini-figures and some great extras.
You get 2 regular pilot battle droids with this set, 3 super battle droids with the new rocket arm, 1 clone trooper with sniper, and a new Clone Wars style Yoda.
The set includes a speeder as well, which is just an extra bonus item for this set. For those who put a high emphasis on playability, you can store this as an escape vehicle . The speeder stores readily in the bottom back portion of the Armored Assault Tank (AAT), and clicks into place.
The Armored Assault Tank (AAT) itself is an impressive piece for certain. The AAT has some interesting and compelling blue accents through the design. The top of the AAT has an imposing cannon, with swivel action side-to-side as well as up and down. The battle cannon can swivel right and left a total range of about 45 degrees. You do not get a full 360 degree turn with the AAT cannon. The top hatch opens, which a battle droid fits. Further down from the battle cannon are two side guns with flick-fire missiles.
The cockpit is located in the center section between the section with side missiles. This section is pretty straightforward, with a hatch that opens up and down, and a spot to set your pilot figure.
This particular Armored Assault Tank (AAT) has a better look than previous LEGO sets. Previous versions had a blocky look, but this AAT is greatly improved, with rounded edges and a sleeker appearance. The bottom has pieces that make it easy to slide the unit, giving a hover effect that would exist in the Star Wars universe.
The set comes with a few decals for detail purposes, just a little something extra for style. Retailing in the $50 range, this is a great set.
