Star Wars Xbox 360 Force Unleashed

Game of 2008
As the year of 2008 comes into it’s final, coldest month it’s good to have a look back and see what brilliant game releases there were, and mainly, choose which one of these was the best game of 2008.
Throughout the whole year we’ve had some awesome game releases on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Nitendo Wii, however, I would have to say that the later part of the year was definately the best as there were dozens of new releases from September to November, those games have really done a good job of keeping me and millions of other gamers entertained during the year.
Here are just a few of the awesome games that have been released in the past year:
Lost Odyssey – I thought this game was pretty good, although the combat of the game was not my favorite it was still good gameplay, but also, extremely long, 4 disks, really took some time to get through it all.
Condemned 2 – Even though the game is pretty brutal and not for the feint of heart, the complex puzzles and hand to hand combat makes the game really good to play. The game can get rather tense and dark at times which really pulls you into the game.
Battlefield: Bad Company – This is my personal favorite Battlefield game so far, mainly because it has a campaign. I absolutely loved the ability to shoot a hole in a wall using a grenade launcher and then run between buildings while blowing up walls as you go.
Lego Indiance Jones – I am a enormous fan of the Lego games, they are great amazing and great fun to play. Even though the Lego games are short, the humour and gameplay to them is brilliant.
Lego Batman – This game was really the same as Lego Indianace, just a few new features but it’s still a brilliant game to play. All of the Lego games are fun for the whole family, everyone will enjoy them.
Civilization Revolution – I only played this game a few times on the Xbox 360 but I thought it was brilliant, alot different from any other Civilization game I’ve played.
Devil May Cry 4 – Alot of people I know have said that this game is awesome, but I don’t see it. I played the demo on the Xbox 360 and thought, “hmm, alot of jumping”. I thought the game was pretty repetitive, not my favorite game really.
Mario Kart Wii – Even though I am not a great fan of the Mario games, I did enjoy playing this one. Especially when you use the Wii steering wheel, you can have great fun with the game whether you’re in a party or not, a great game for every Wii lover.
GRID – I never liked this game, the graphics were very good but because you could rewind time if you crashed, I thought it ruined it.
Burnout Paradise – The only problem with this game is that it’s repetitive, you do alot of races and then get a new license, once you get that license you have to repeat all of the races again, just a little bit harder to get another license. Overall I thought the game was good for a drive around but gets slightly repetitive.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl – Even though I only played the game once or twice it was great fun. The simple controls and fast gameplay makes it really fun to play as a party. The ability to jump around as Pikachu or Kirby makes the game really funny and entertaining, a great party play game.
Metal Gear Solid 4 – This game consists mainly of movie scenes which after a while get boring and too long, but once you get to play the game you’ll forget all about them. Once your into the game it’s great fun to play and the graphics are good.
Rock Band – Brilliant, I have always loved the Guitar Hero games, but when this was released I just had to get it, I loved the set list and loved the new instruments, awesome game and a must play for any music game lover.
Rock Band 2 – Rock Band 2 is just even more of Rock Band 1, which is great, Rock Band 2 comes with an even larger and more expandable set list than Rock Band 1, everyone should play this game.
Guitar Hero World Tour – This game, like with Rock Band is a wicked game, the new instruments were brilliant but I thought the set list really dragged it down, it depends on your taste but I wasn’t amazed by it.
Grand Theft Auto 4 – You can’t really complain about this game, all of the other GTA’s have been awesome but this one managed to top the lot. Outstanding graphics and the ability to change the way the game ends depending on the choices you make just makes it even better. Plus with the addition of new content coming next year, the game just gets deeper and better.
World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King – This game was brilliant, with a new level cap, a new class, new professions and new raid content. This game will keep me entertained for many hours.
Gears of War 2 – Superb, just that one word needed. The graphics of this game were absolutely amazing and the storyline was mind blowing, it’s continuous action with non stop blood. This is a must play game for any Xbox owner.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed – Although the game was good, and it had alot of hype before it was released, once it was, I was not totally amased by it all. The whole look, feel and gameplay of it was awesome but I found the storyline to be rather short. Also, because it had no online play, I found it was a few days of playing then that was it.
Left 4 Dead – If you are afan of the Counter Strike and Half Life games, you will love this, it’s created by the same people but this time it’s got zombies. You and 3 other team mates have to battle your way out of the city. I really like the emphasis that the game has on team work and how the weapons are so realistic.
Fable 2 – In one way this game was really good, and in another it was ok. The whole storyline, new graphics and ability to change the whole game by making one decision is awesome. But the length and difficulty of the game was a let down, I found it to be alot shorter than the original Fable and it was also alot simpler as you didn’t seem to face any tough bosses. Although it has some downsides, It’s still a great game to play.
Mirror’s Edge – Some people might think that this game is poor, but I don’t, I thought it was brilliant, just like Assassins Creed, which I loved. I thought Mirror’s Edge was a brilliant game, the graphics of the game were outstanding, although I didn’t think much of the cut scenes, they looked rather cheap comic book stuff, the gameplay was awesome and it’s just a whole new style of game.
Far Cry 2 – There is one major problem with this game, once you start to play, you can’t stop for several hours. The whole storyline and ability to change the game as you play is great, plus having to battle with malaria, brings a whole new dimension to the game. You have a great arsenal of weapons plus there are some pretty good features, the ability to start a bush fire to take advantage of your enemies, your guns jam if you pick them up off the ground, your car breaks down after a few crashes. All these things made it an awesome game, one of the best of 2008.
Call of Duty 5: World of War – This game had alot to live up to, it had to beat CoD4 which one a number of awards this year. I wasn’t as entertained as it went back to the World Wars instead of staying with modern combat. But that aside, the gameplay and graphics were awesome, although I thought it didn’t quite live up to the reputation left by CoD4.
All of the games listed above were brilliant to play and lots of fun, but when it comes to choosing a game of 2008, it’s a really difficult one. Although it’s a hard decision, I would have to say that Gear of War 2 is my game oif the year, simply because of the constant fighting and action, plus with it’s great graphics and storyline, it makes it the best game of 2008. What’s your game of 2008?
