What You Need To Know About LEGO 7749 Star Wars Hoth Echo Base

The LEGO 7749 Star Wars Hoth Echo Base is here, and it is everything you’ve come to expect from the LEGO Star Wars universe.    Recommended for ages 7 – 12, it is also a great item for Star Wars enthusiasts of any age.   With 155 pieces, this set also features great mini-figures and some worthwhile extras.

The first mini figure in this set is a Han Solo, complete with cold weather gear and a hefty snow hood.   Torso includes binocular printing and some nice clothing detail, including pants with a holster and belt.   Included also are Rebel Troopers, with a new working visor that flips up and down for use.   His tan coat, white backpack, and familiar torso markings will look familiar to LEGO Star Wars enthusiasts.  This package includes two troopers, one carrying a long blast rifle.  Included also is a Snow Trooper, with a helmet that detaches along with the backpack.   This is all one piece.   With the helmet/backpack removed, you’ll notice no printing on the back of his torso.

The second Snow Trooper in the package includes a E-Web Heavy Repeating Blaster, which – let’s just say this right now – is really cool.   The E-Web Repeating Blaster has support legs, a long shooting barrel, and is colored gray and black.  There is a power box affixed to it that you can remove if you wish.

The set features a brand new Tauntaun.   You’ll find that this Tauntaun is an improvement over previous incarnations.  He’s got a seating space for your Han figure, and some binoculars.

The Echo Base is the centerpiece of this set, and it’s a fun thing of which you may want more than one.  The left side of the Echo Base has a missile tower, with a missile launcher with flick fire action and space for a mini figure.  This hatch can be in the up or down position, depending on your preference.   Inside the tower itself is enough space to store another mini figure and close the door to hide him.  This is a very roomy spot to store your mini figure.

The Echo Base control panel has a kind of catapult system within it, which you can use to enhance the playability of this set.   There is a long black tube on the front of the control area that attaches back to the missile tower.   The Base also contains a storage box for weapons or other items you may wish to store.
