I think you should get fallout NV, it will last a lot longer.
P.S. to billy bob, New vegas is still published by bethesda, and obsidian (the guys developing) is made up of some of the people who made the original fallout games. Also i would hope that New vegas would be different than Fallout 3 considering its a different game that takes place in a different location, and in a different year.
