What You Should Know About Tinnitus Symptoms

Tinnitus can strike anyone at any time. There are several different causes for this condition, but you cannot say conclusively why one person who is 50 years of age and another young person 15 years old both contract it. The two people in this example may have listened to loud noises for varying amounts of time or they may not have anything in common at all. Even the famous movie star William Shatner from the Star Trek series has been diagnosed with tinnitus. As you research further on this subject, you will find that there really are several ways to contract this health issue.  Let’s take a look at some information about tinnitus symptoms and what some people experience with this condition.

Tinnitus symptoms are described as ringing in the ears. Of course, not all people hear a distinct ringing sound. Some do and some do not. For each person the sound they hear can take a different form. Some people experience humming noises, buzzing, the sound of running water, sizzling sounds or even the sound you hear when you put a seashell up to your ear. There are even some individuals who believe they hear more of a musical sound and yet others hear a roaring sound.

Besides hearing unique sounds, each individual may also experience different symptoms. Another unusual aspect of patient complaints are that the sounds can appear to be intermittent or a constant endless sound. Then again, many people may experience symptoms relating to only one ear or in some cases both ears.

The symptoms, as you can see, vary quite a lot from person to person. Some people are fortunate to receive successful treatment, which resolves their condition.  Certain individuals have even had luck using their mind to suppress the constant sounds. However, for others there may be no medical method in place today to treat their type of problem. 

There are several different classifications of tinnitus. This disease has been classified as subjective, objective, aurium and cerebri. Subjective means the noise or sounds are only heard by the individual patient. An objective situation occurs when a stethoscope is placed near the ear and a physician can hear the sound which the patient hears. Aurium is the classification given to the actual noise which the patient hears. Cerebri is the term used when a patient only hears sounds within his own head and it cannot be heard otherwise.

With so many tinnitus symptoms, it would be a good idea to contact your doctor for an assessment and possible treatment if you feel you might have this health issue.
