Star Trek on Satellite TV
<!– @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } –>
Star Trek has remained one of TV and film’s longest running franchises. Originally brought to the screen in 1966, it continues to delight audiences and a core group of fans around the world. It won its first Oscar in 1999, and reruns of its many TV series and movies still garner high ratings. For true fans, dubbed “Trekkies,” the availability of reruns on TV has been alleviated somewhat by online content. For some though, the thrill of seeing Star Trek episodes and movies on TV is more reason to celebrate than any sports even. Satellite TV captures these great science fiction moments, and has made more Star Trek content available on TV than ever before.
Television Series on Satellite TV:
Star Trek: The Original Series (1966-1969)
The original Star Trek series featuring Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock started the phenomenon. The series only ran for four years, but started the incredible fan sensation known as Star Trek. Through the series, its creator, Gene Rodenberry, was able to comment on the state of the world and promote a progressive agenda.
Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987-1994)
After a long hiatus during which time Star Trek movies were the only advancement of the series, Rodenberry came forward with a new idea to networks. It featured a new cast, and many were doubtful of its popularity. Surprisingly, it proved extremely popular and profitable for Paramount, and The Next Generation ran for seven years, the longest of any Star Trek franchise series. The episodes can be seen on satellite TV on G4 network.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993-1999)
Again, Deep Space Nine featured a new cast and a new setting. Taking place on a space station (and not a ship), it again silenced critics with its popularity. It gave way to Voyager and a number of spinoffs and shared episodes, but lasted only until 1999. Reruns are occasionally seen on G4 and Sci-Fi network on satellite TV.
Star Trek: Voyager (1995-2001)
Voyager broke new ground with a female captain, for the first time in series history. It was shown on the newly-founded UPN network. Although initially popular, ratings slid in later years. Reruns are found occasionally on Sci-Fi network.
Star Trek: Enterprise (2001-2005)
The latest venture into TV shows for Star Trek proved popular initially, but ratings slid dramatically in later years. It was popular almost exclusively for series devotees, but provided a number of homage’s to previous series and parts of the show’s history.
Star Trek (2009): The 2009 Star Trek movie is of special note because it will be the first Star Trek movie available on satellite TV in high definition. The HD broadcast of this film will be available first through pay-per-view on demand, and then through subscription movie networks like HBO. With so many options, satellite TV is the clear choice for any Star Trek fan.

A Star Trek: The Next Generation: Time #1: A Time to Be Born By John Vornholt $7.99 On the cusp of their epic battle with Shinzon, many of Captain Jean-Luc Picard’s long-time crew were heading for new assignments and new challenges. Among the changes were William Riker’s promotion to captain and his new command, Riker’s marriage to Counselor Deanna Troi, and Dr. Beverly Crusher’s new career at Starfleet Medical. But the story of what set them on a path away from the Starship Enterprise™ has never been told.
UNTIL NOW.
The site of one of the Dominion War’s fiercest battles, the Rashanar Sector now contains a vast interstellar graveyard littered with the lifeless hulks of hundreds of devastated starships. The explosive destruction of so many varied warp drives has severely distorted the space-time continuum in this region, resulting in dangerous unleashed energies and bizarre gravitational anomalies.
The Enterprise has been assigned to patrol the perimeter of the danger zone, while other vessels carry out the difficult and highly hazardous task of retrieving the bodies of the dead from the wrecked warships.
To some alien races, the former battleground is hallowed space. To others, including the rapacious Androssi, it is a scavenger’s paradise, ripe for salvage. None expect this ship’s graveyard to hold a deadly secret that will force the android Data to make a heart-wrenching decision about the path his life will take — and that will endanger not only the Enterprise, but Picard’s future in Starfleet. |

But the story of what set them on a path away from the Starship Enterprise™ has never been told.
UNTIL NOW.
Following the scandalous Tezwa affair, the Federation president’s resignation forces an election, with the future of the United Federation of Planets to be determined by who emerges victorious from a hotly contested vote. But it is the fate of the entire galaxy that may actually be decided on Qo’noS, as the Federation embassy is seized by terrorists whose actions expose intrigue reaching the highest levels of Klingon government — and it will take all of Ambassador Worf’s skills to keep the fragile Federation-Klingon alliance from collapsing. And while this potential intergalactic chaos looms, Commander Riker finds his plans for command and marriage soured by a brutal, high-level inspection of the ship from which the crew may not escape unscathed….
The epic miniseries comes to a shocking conclusion — one that will leave the Star Trek universe changed forever! |

I’m Working on That: A Trek From Science Fiction to Science Fact By William Shatner $10.99 ”BEAM ME UP, SCOTTY.”™
During the 1960s, in an age when the height of technology was a crackly AM transistor radio, Star Trek® envisioned a time when communication devices worked without wires.
”WORKING”
Computers of the decade took up entire climate-controlled rooms and belonged only to the government and a few very large corporations.
