Price Strategy

price strategy
What is the smartest price strategy?

. a. Offer the lowest price that you can afford to offer.
b. Pick a pricing strategy that is different from the competition’s strategy.
c. Choose a pricing strategy that communicates your competitive advantage.

The lowest price by itself is not feasible, you still have to make money and if the margin is too low you will not stay for long in business.

Pricing strategy that is different from your competition will not guarantee success, it comes down to your competitive advantage.

What is your product’s advantage, what benefits does it provide to the buyer. Just look at yourself, will you buy something just based on price?

Look at the iPhone, when Apple introduced it, there were many smart phones but none provided the elegance and ease of use that an iPhone provided. It was more expensive than the competition but it sold like hotcakes.

Wal-Mart is using a different strategy, but in order to sell at the lowest price, they manage and control their supply chain very tightly; from sourcing world-wide, setting quality standards, packaging, transportation, merchandising and information system. Headquarters knows within an hour what is being sold in each individual store.

Hope this helps

Excerpt: The 1968 Hardie-Ferodo 500 was the ninth running of the Bathurst 500 production car race. It was held on October 6, 1968 at the Mount Panorama Circuit just outside Bathurst. Cars competed in five classes based on purchase price (Australian dollars) of the vehicle. For the first time factory supported teams of Ford and Holden V8s raced against each other, setting a pattern that continues to this day in Australian touring car racing, currently known as V8 Supercar. It was not one of the factory cars that won however. The Wyong Motors entry of a Holden Monaro driven by Bruce McPhee (apart from one lap mid-race driven by Barry Mulholland) who upset the big teams with a tactical tyre strategy of running a buffed hard wearing street tyre rather than a racing tyre. Initially Des West and Ron Marks were classified second but were later disqualified for illegal engine modifications. Second became the factory supported Holden Dealer Racing Team Monaro of Jim Palmer (to that point the best finish by a New Zealander) and Phil West. Another dealer entered Monaro driven by Tony Roberts and Bob Watson finished third. The smallest class was for cars which cost less than $1,850. It was made up of Datsun 1000, Ford Cortina, Hillman Imp, Morris Mini De Luxe and T… More:

2010: Take Back America: A Battle Plan

2010: Take Back America: A Battle Plan

$39.99

Casting your vote in the november 2010 election may be the single most important thing you do all year. Because these elections Will be the critical turning point for america’s future. They’re our chance to take back america. We stand at the crossroads of ideals and policies: freedom versus socialism; sovereignty versus international subservience; economic liberty versus debt slavery; quality medical care versus government-sponsored euthanasia; and private property versus confiscatory taxation. All this depends on the answer to one question: Will Obama maintain his control of Congress? To prepare us for this battle, Dick Morris and Eileen McGann have written 2010: Take Back America, their most important book yet. In Fleeced, they warned of the dangers of an Obama administration. In Catastrophe, they predicted his campaign to promote a socialist economy. And now, in this book, they offer a battle plan to take back America. Morris and McGann explain the stakes — permanent unemployment, rampaging inflation, international control of our economy, collapse of our manufacturing industry, European-style taxation levels, and a nation without quality medical care at any price. They point out the targets — the incumbent Democrats who are most vulnerable. They identify the races we must win and offer ammunition to do so. They examine the records of Harry Reid, Blanche Lincoln, Arlen Specter, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Barbara Boxer — the key incumbent targets for 2010. And they tell you all the secrets these incumbents hope you won’t find out. They outline a strategy for victory — explaining the pitfalls and walking us through a path to winning control of Congress. And then they tell us what we can do as individuals to defeat Obama — how to go beyond the traditional work of donating, local campaigning, and voting, and build our own electronic precincts to get people engaged

Active Value Investing: Making Money in Range-Bound Markets

Active Value Investing: Making Money in Range-Bound Markets

$55

For the next dozen years or so, the U.S. stock market will be a wild roller-coaster ride—setting all-time highs and multi-year lows in the process. While the twists and turns of this ride are still to be written by history, the long-term, sideways “range-bound” trajectory has already been set by the eighteen-year bull market that ended in 2000. When the dust settles, only those who adapted their investment strategies to this range-bound market will have captured any meaningful profits.Nobody understands this situation better than author, educator, and respected investment manager Vitaliy Katsenelson. And now, with Active Value Investing, he’ll reveal how to achieve unparalleled success in these conditions by taking traditionally profitable and fundamentally driven strategies—developed during the eighteen-year bull market—and modifying them for use in range-bound markets. This is not just another value investing book. It is a practical guide that contains innovative insights and timely techniques that will improve your investment endeavors during a time when others will be paying with their returns, and with lost time, for the valuation excesses of prior bull markets. In the first part of the book, Katsenelson examines the historical performance of U.S. markets over the past two centuries and discusses what has caused prolonged bull, bear, and range-bound markets. He then looks at the emotions that have dominated each of these markets, why there is a high probability that a range-bound market has descended on us, and what you can do to forecast how long this market will last.Part Two of Active Value Investing addresses practical application of this concept. Here you’ll become familiar with performing proper stock analysis—from identifying what constitutes a good company to determining the stock price at which these companies become worth owning—and implementing an active investing strategy during range- bound markets. You’ll

Activity Based Cost Management: An Executive's Guide

Activity Based Cost Management: An Executive’s Guide

$41.95

Back when Henry Ford was producing Model Ts in one black, all-purpose model, traditional cost allocation gave a fairly accurate picture of a company s expenses. But today, the very nature of doing business has radically changed. Overhead expenses are displacing direct costs. And the complexity of most organizations has increased dramatically. Companies produce more products in greater variation and diversity than ever before, and they service more, and different, types of customers. Add to that the sea change created as the Internet spawns more e-trading market exchanges with auctions and bidding, and it becomes apparent that we need a method that replaces the fuzzy answers of traditional methods with credible assumptions based on valid data. The answer is Activity-Based Cost Management, and this crystal-clear, persuasive, and authoritative book will help you understand and implement ABC/M quickly and easily. Managerial accounting is now transitioning into managerial economics, reveals author Gary Cokins, a worldwide expert on activity-based cost management. With the technology we have at our disposal, ABC/M will provide you not only with a more accurate picture of your company s costs but also with the critical information you need to make better decisions and perform better and more in alignment with your company s defined strategy. Cokins explains exactly why ABC/M is far superior than traditional costing for your needs in today s business environment, and how it will help you manage costs, increase profits, and make better decisions. You ll learn to use ABC/M to: Map the preferences of your prospects and customers back to yourorganization s business processes and cost structure Adopt an effective and more reliable method of estimating and budgeting for costs, price quotations, investment alternatives, and decisions Construct a fair chargeback billing system that reflects the tru
