Metal Gear Solid Essential Collection
Will the Metal Gear Solid: Essentials collection work on the new 120 gb PS3?
I recently bought Metal Gear Solid 4 and I love it! However, as expected I am really confused about the story. My PS3 model is the new 120 gb slim. Will the $20 Metal Gear Solid: Essentials collection work on it?
The PS3 models that have backwards compatibility were the launch models (60GB & 20GB), the MotorStorm bundle models and the MGS4 bundle models. ALL other PS3 models CANNOT play ps2 games due to the lack of backwards compatibility.
If you want to play ps2 games on a PS3, you must buy one of the old models I have mentionned (possibly on ebay or amazon from other sellers since they aren’t available in stores anymore).
Some ps2 games are being re-released on blu-ray discs (for exemple God of War: Collection) to be playable on PS3. However the original ps2 discs won’t work on the new models.
Edit: So in short, NO you CANNOT play MGS Essentials on the new 120 GB Slim PS3.
