What is your favorite Lord of the Rings movie?
I am an enormous fan of all three The Lord of the Rings films, but some people actually prefer one film out of the trilogy that is their favorite. I love all of the films very much, but for some reason The Fellowship of the Ring is just the best of the three in my opinion. Its epic and awe inspiring, and really set the standard for modern fantasy films! It was also a milestone in cinema because nothing had ever been done like it before! So what is your favorite film in the trilogy, and why? Is it Fellowship, Towers, or King??? Let me know, im curious!
I agree, the Return of the King was the best film (and my favorite) It soared to the highest heights and had the most dramatic battles. I think the Two Towers was in every way better than the first film, but it’s almost entirely overlooked being stuck in the middle.
The funny thing is, the Lord of the Rings movies are similar to the original Star Wars (and Harry Potter) films- The first one is the most fondly remembed even though it was actually surpassed by later films. The reason Fellowship of the Ring (and Episode IV) are so memorable is because they took us there FIRST. They completely immersed us into that cinematic world, and every scene was something new and exciting.
Seeing the Hyperspace drive kick in for the first time, the Death Star or seeing the forests, cliffs and plains of Middle Earth, the Tower at Eisengard. The first films just have such a grand scope, by later installments we’re more focused on the story advancement and sadly, take some of those things that made us say “WOW”, for granted.
In retrospect, quite a bit of time in Fellowship of the Ring was spent walking.. through plains, forests and cabbage fields, but we hardly noticed.
