Carving a Gandalf Pipe?
I am planning on carving a pipe used by Gandalf in the Lord Of The Rings series as the replicas are much to expensive for me. Trouble is I don’t know how to go about this. So far I know I should use briar wood, and that it will require a knife (like a swiss army one).
But how do I make the pipe itself? I know to carve it, and steam it to make the curve I wish of, but what about the stem? How do I carve through it?
Any tips, or list of instructions is greatly appreciated!
You should carve it in 3 separate pieces at least. Cup, short stem and the “filter” part, however I doubt that it is possible to do a half decent job with only a knife. I can think of at least 5 different carving tools that you would need and buying them, will probably cost you more than Gandalf`s original pipe. Give it a shot though, but try to borrow all the diferrent knives. Good luck
