250TALENTS AND ABILITIES

In this next section of my Hunters Guide for World of Warcraft, lets go over abilities and talent specs.
Hunter gets a wide range of job abilities and a great selection of talent tree specs to choose from. To start, let us examine abilities you get.  Hunters get unique abilities called aspects. These aspects allow them to take on attributes of different animals to enhance their stats. Only 1 aspect can be active at a time.

Here is the ULTIMATE Hunter guide for World of Warcraft

Aspects include:

  • Aspect of the Monkey—this aspect gives you a higher dodge rating which will increase with the rank of the aspect.
  • Aspect of the Cheetah—this aspect will increase your movement speed when in the wild
  • Aspect of the Hawk—gives you a bonus to your ranged attack power
  • Aspect of the Pack—same as aspect of the cheetah, but has area of affect for Raid or Group Members
  • Aspect of the Viper—gives mana regeneration on ranged attacks, but lowers damage by 50%
  • Aspect of the Wild—increases Nature resistance for entire Raid or Group

TRAPS

Another great tool Hunter gets is the ability to lay traps. Traps can cause many status effects and Destroy the enemy.
Hunter Traps:

  • Immolation trap—fire damage over time
  • Freezing trap—freezes enemy for up to 60 seconds, great for if you are trying to get away
  • Frost trap—ice slick around the trap, movement speed decreased in area of effect around trap
  • Explosive trap—deals fire damage and damage over time to area of effect around trap
  • Snake trap—releases venomous snakes that will attack first enemy in area of effect

Traps can Destroy or STop the enemy in their tracks.Remember as a Hunter you want to stay as far away from the enemies as you can and let your pet or others keep the threat. This means slowing them down so you get away.

The talent tree for Hunter is going to determine how you play.  You can change your talents by going to a trainer. However, they will charge you more each time you redo this. Paying attention to how you spec your character early on can determine if you are going to be a good player or a great one.

Talent Trees for Hunter:

  • Marksmanship–As the name implies this talent tree is geared towards increasing your marksmanship. All the specs listed here will increase your overall damage and accuracy. This is a good spec to use while leveling up. Once you get to high levels you may decide to change, but the increases in damage will make fights go much faster. It is recommended to use this tree if you are spending a lot of time playing in group, since you will be more likely to be using ranged attacks more often.
  • Beast Mastery– This set of talents will increase your ability to control your pet as well as increasing the potency of your aspects. It can be useful if spend a lot of time soloing rather than playing in a group. The bonuses to your pet will help it be able to tank better for you so you do not take as much damage.
  • Survival – This talent tree gives some general buffs to all your abilities but is best used for the increases to trap abilities. This one is usually not used until higher levels in the game. The low level talents in the other trees are better focused for what you will need.

Good luck with leveling your Hunter, If you need more help check out this great guide.
