harvard strategy
What’s the name of this game?

i’ve been trying to look it up. this game takes strategy and logic.. and i’ve been trying to figure it out. but it doesn’t help when i don’t know the name!

my substitute teacher, a retired man with a PhD from harvard is always challenging us. and he always wins. i want to beat him one day. sooo..

it’s a two people game.

set up: you draw 5 columns of lines on a piece of paper. In the first column, 5 lines. 2nd column, 4 lines. 3rd column, 3 lines. 2nd column, 2 lines. last column one line.

goal: not erase the last line.

how to play: you take turns with the other person erasing lines from one column. you can erase as many lines within that column as long as you don’t erase any in other columns.

what’s the name? or better do you know how to win?

the name of the game is NIM

to win you need to leave the other player with a nim sum of zero, that’s pretty easy to find on the internet, although pretty lengthy to explain here. Basically you write each row in binary and add them without carries and the sum needs to be zeros.

It contains insider tips that will show you how you can save thousands of dollars, improve your relationship with your kids, sleep better at night, and put the family law courts behind you. Drawing upon years of experience as a mediator, shared-custody educator, and therapist specializing in separation and divorce, Mr. Desjardins introduces parents, step parents, and grandparents, to the tools that millions of people around the globe are using to resolve their child-custody problems. If you are recently separated or divorced and want to avoid getting into a custody dispute in the first place, this book will help you do just that. If you are already in a custody battle and have tried everything you can think of to help the kids “win”, but have failed, this book is for you. All of the proceeds from this book are being donated to the non-profit International Center for Peaceful Shared Custody in support of its goal of building a global community of parents helping parents through separation and divorce. “With an easy-to-read writing style, Mr. Desjardins makes a convincing case for “winning” a decent parenting arrangement after a divorce.
