Mining in wow can be a one of the best money making professions in world of warcraft. I will use this wow mining guide to help you get started. To level mining you will start out mining copper. Except for around Darnasus, these mining points are scattered everywhere. There are no mining points or mining trainers in or around Darnasus, so if you want to level mining, you will have to go to Stormwind and Elwyn Forest, or travel to Ironforge and Dun Morogh, or level up and go to Darkshore.

I highly suggest if you are a new player getting the biggest bags you can afford. They can be expensive, but they pay for themselves the first trip.
Mining can help you make money because of the diverse items you can get from each node. The main thing you will be mining is ores used by blacksmithing and jewelcrafting. You will also be mining stones used by blacksmiths for sharpening stones and grinding wheels. Y ou can also get jewels used by smithing and jewelcrafting.
If you are in Elwynn Forest, go to Stormwind. In the Dwarven district you will find Gelman Stonehand.
After you talk to him make sure to get yourself a mining pick and head to Elwynn Forest. Once you are there you can make your way to Fargodeep Mine and start mining copper nodes. Find a good professions addon, as it will help you find the mining nodes on the minimap. There are many mining nodes in Elwynn Forest. You will find the highest concentration of these around Fargodeep and Jasperlode mines. There are also several quests going to these mines that you can complete at the same time. Copper ore will get you to around level 60.
By then you should be leveling in Westfall. Start finding silver mines here. They will give you better skill levels, and they sell for much higher. Make sure you are smelting your ores as the smelted ores usually sell better than ores by themselves. You can do this at any blacksmithing forge with an anvil.
If you are in Dun Morogh, go to Steelgrill’s Depot and talk to Yarr Hammerstone. He is in the building downstairs. There are many mining points located around the mountains. Level up and go to Frostmane Hold, then move on to Gol’Bolar quarry. This should get you to around level 50 or 60. Over level 50 you can start mining silver ore in Loch Modan.
Anywhere there are mountains or caves is usually a good place for mining deposits to show up. Again using a good addon can help find where the mining nodes pop, and then you can find a route to best work your way around.
As you level your skill go back to the trainer. He gives you the opportunity to learn more skills as you continue to improve.
